Howdens kitchen fitter in Hertfordshire
Howdens sells to the trade only, so once you've chosen your kitchen at the depot you need a fitter to order it and fit it. I'm based in Knebworth, I fit Howdens kitchens across Hertfordshire, and I do every fit myself.
How it works
Three steps, one person
Design at the depot
Visit your nearest Howdens depot (Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Welwyn Garden City, Hertford, St Albans and Hatfield). A Howdens designer draws up the plan from your measurements. If you'd like the room measured properly first, I'll come and do it, so the design works in practice as well as on paper.
I check the plan and quote
Send me the Howdens plan and a few photos. I check it against the room, flag anything that won't work, then give you a fixed written price for the fit. I place the order with the depot and book the delivery for the start date.
The fit
Old kitchen out, units levelled and fixed, worktops cut and jointed, doors and drawers aligned, plinths, cornice and panels scribed to the room. Sink, tap and appliances connected, with gas and electrics done by the Gas Safe registered and qualified trades I manage.

What to know about a Howdens fit
- Nine of the kitchens on this site are Howdens: three in Harpenden, including Angela and Francesca's open-plan kitchen with its curved island, the grey gloss galley in Stevenage, the black quartz galley in Knebworth, a cream shaker and a charcoal handleless in Welwyn Garden City, a dark grey shaker in a garden cabin, and a small bedsit kitchen. They're all below.
- Howdens cabinets arrive rigid, not flat-packed. It's one reason the fit is quick and the finished kitchen feels solid.
- Whichever door you've chosen, from Greenwich and Fairford to Chilcomb, Clerkenwell and Hockley, the carcasses behind it are the same system, so I know how it all goes together and where the awkward bits are.
- Howdens laminate worktops are cut and jointed on site. If you'd rather have quartz or granite, it's templated once the units are in and fitted about a week later.
- Lamona is Howdens' own appliance brand. I fit Lamona and any other integrated appliances as part of the fit.
- If you have your own plumber and electrician, ask for a dry fit: units, worktops, doors and panels in, ready for them to connect.
Before, during and after
A Howdens kitchen in Stevenage
Dated oak-effect units and a tired tiled floor, replaced with Howdens grey gloss handleless units, integrated ovens, sparkle quartz worktops, a breakfast bar and marble-effect floor tiles. The floor stays protected throughout the fit.

What Howdens customers and others say
Jeremy is one of those rare tradesmen you're truly lucky to find. He's incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and takes immense pride in his work. Every job he's done for us has been completed to an extremely high standard, the quality really speaks for itself.
He's clean, tidy, and respectful of your space, which makes a huge difference. He's reliable and honest. On top of being a top-class workman, Jeremy is a genuinely kind person. Highly recommended, we wouldn't go to anyone else.
Amazing craftsmanship! Attention to the last detail, everything was covered and completed to perfection. Very tidy, no mess. Just got on with things and the end result was an amazing kitchen. I would highly recommend
My wife and I were looking for a skilled trades person to help us with our kitchen redesign and subsequent fitting of new worktops, sink and units including new hob and fitted ovens. After being let down by other so called trades persons in the past we were delighted when we met Jeremy.
He was very friendly and what we would call a professional in his area of expertise. He guided us along the process of designing our kitchen and saw things we would never have anticipated. He was also flexible as we had to wait for some extra side panels to arrive after a delivery went wrong, and he also sourced us professionals to fit our gas appliances.
We are so glad we found Jeremy and we were delighted with the work he did for us, and would easily recommend Jeremy to family and friends without hesitation.
Great service from start to finish! Professional, reliable, and excellent quality of work. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy local builder.

Questions people ask about Howdens kitchens
Do I need a Howdens trade account?
No. Howdens sells through tradespeople, so the account is mine. You choose the kitchen with the Howdens designer, I order it and it's delivered for the start date.
I already have a Howdens plan and price. What next?
Send me the plan and a couple of photos of the room on WhatsApp. I'll come and measure, check the plan against the room and give you a fixed written price for the fit, usually within a day or two of the visit.
Can you help before I go to the depot?
Yes. I'll measure the room, talk through the layout and note what to ask the designer for. It avoids a second trip to the depot, and it stops layouts that look fine on screen but don't work in the room.
Will you fit the worktops and appliances too?
Yes. Laminate worktops are cut and jointed on site; quartz and granite are templated once the units are in. Integrated appliances, sink and tap are fitted and connected as part of the job, with gas work done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
How long does a Howdens kitchen take to fit?
Most small to medium kitchens take 5–7 working days on site. I'll tell you before we start which days you'll be without a sink and a cooker.
Which Howdens depots do you work with?
Any of them. Most of my customers use Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Welwyn Garden City, Hertford, St Albans and Hatfield. I cover the area from Letchworth and Hitchin across to Harpenden and St Albans, and down to Hertford and Ware.
